Chapter 1: How It All Started

Chapter Text

The sound of raindrops colliding against cold steel metal made his heart beat faster, like bullets piercing right through the center of his soul with every passing second that goes by. His breathing labored as his delicate hands grasp at the steering wheel tightly. His beautiful hazel eyes in mirrored panic as they roam the surroundings rigorously.

'No.. No no no! Damn it!'

He felt like his mind was going haywire, trying to find a better solution to his predicament. The petrified emotions running raw and deep within his bones at detecting the declining time.

After spending a few more seconds in despair, he came to the conclusion that there was no other choice and hope for the very best. Once out of his vehicle and soaked to the brim, he ran towards the telephone booth, frantically punching in the emergency number only to gasp at the dead line. He blinked and hung up before repeating his previous actions but seemed to be futile. With a frustrated cry, he placed the phone back on its jack and made his way towards what appeared to be a closed gas station but in direction to the empty restrooms located outside and stumbled in. Gasping for air, he went into a restroom stall and climbed onto the toilet, obscuring himself from the prying eyes. He never knew how absolutely terrying it is to be chased by someone unknown.

Agonizing minutes passed by and he felt himself relaxing just slightly, seeing that there was no sight of anyone yet. That was short-lived, for when he was just about to step down from the toilet, a foot midway down, the door slammed open. Eliciting a small whimper from his lips, he immediately shot a hand onto his mouth to keep from making any further noises, slowly retrieving his foot back onto the toilet. He felt trapped, his pulse rising once again when his eyes saw the figure right on the other side of his door. Tears welled up in his eyes, fear for his life.

Time seemed to stop when the door of the stall was kicked open and he couldn't do anything but shout and shove the figure, survival instincts running high. He ignired the sound of an irritated growl that escaped the other and made a beeline to the outside again.

His frantic state looked around to try and find a way to get back to the city. Maybe his car could start working once again, he could turn it on and drive away. With that thought in mind, he ran towards his car and got in, turned the ignition and tried to drive away only to notice how difficult it was to do so. His confusion was easily wiped away from his mind when the sudden realization that his car was attached to something making it unable to move along.

"Fuck!" He screamed in a mixture of desperation and frustration, punching the steering wheel. His tears had started rolling down his cheeks by now. Things just had to get worse. Whoever was chasing after him had everything well planned and calculated.

"I need to get out of here." He whispered to himself after a couple of moments of deep breaths to calm down and got out of the car with the small hope of determination left in him. He began walking along the dark road, hoping to find something resourceful.

The rain continued falling relentlessly, making it hard to see and the darkness was no help, so he failed to notice the blinding lights coming quite fast from behind, until it was too late. He was hit and sent flying up in the air, then landed on the road with a loud thud. Unconscious.
