Jack was playing on the xbox in the bus lounge when he heard a shaky intake of breath followed by a muttered fucking hell coming from the other end of the couch, he paused his game and turned around to see Alex with a lustful look on his face. Alex hadn’t noticed him looking so he quietly slid across the couch and peered over his friend’s shoulder, assuming that he’d been sent a nude or was sexting, but was bemused when all he saw was John O’Callaghan opening card packets.
‘What?’ It was at that point that Alex noticed him, snapping out of whatever daze he seemed to be in seconds before.
‘Sure John’s attractive but Alex man he’s only opening Pokemon and baseball cards and you sounded like you were about to come.’ Jack laughed at his best friend, earning himself a punch in the arm.
‘Oh fuck off, I did not!’ Alex shoved his phone into his pocket, hiding it from Jack’s prying eyes as he flushed bright red, ‘I can’t help it if I happen to find it insanely attractive when a hot man does something nerdy.’
‘Oh please, you find it insanely attractive when John does so much as breathe.’ Jack pulled an exaggerated swooning face as Alex turned an even deeper shade of red,
‘I do not.’ He stood up with a huff.
‘Sorry man, I’m only teasing which I wouldn’t have to do if you would just admit your feelings to the guy!’ Jack pointed a finger at the older man accusingly.
‘Yeah that’s never happening, there’s no way John feels this way about me so I’d rather not a make a fool of myself, thanks.’
‘For god’s sake Alex! He fucking does, it’s so obvious!’
‘Wha..’ Alex was cut off by Jack gesturing wildly as he continued.
‘Remember last year on tour? When you pair of dorks made us stop at that toy store and he bought you that giant lego set?’
‘Yeah?’ Alex fixed Jack with a confused look.
‘Do you just randomly buy your friends five hundred dollar lego sets?’
‘It was three hundred actually and I told him not to but he didn’t listen!’
‘Exactly! He didn’t listen because he was trying to woo you, you moron!’ Jack threw his hands up, exasperated ‘In fact you’re both a pair of morons, ‘cos I don’t know how he didn’t figure it out that day, especially when he suggested that you could start working on it together on the next day off.’
‘I don’t…. Why would he have figured it out then?’
‘Oh come on Alex, you were blushing like a teenage girl seeing a dick for the first time.’ Alex flopped back down on the couch hiding his face in his hands.
‘Shut the fuck up!’ he mumbled, causing Jack to laugh loudly, ‘Why do you always have to embarrass me?’
‘Because you’re my best friend and I hate to see you pining like this, so you need to pull your head out of your ass and go get your man.’ When Alex didn’t respond straight away Jack continued ‘Also you need to get fucking laid so I don’t have to listen to you jerking off every night.’ Alex threw a cushion at his head.
‘You’re an asshole!’
‘And yet you love me.’ The younger man wrapped an arm around his friend’s shoulders, ‘But not as much as you love John eh? Seriously Alex, just tell him!’
‘Jack…’ Alex trailed off leaning into Jack’s side.
‘No buts! I’m telling you, I’m certain he likes you, and if I’m wrong you can kick me in the balls or something.’
‘Ok fine, I’ll think about it but no promises!’ Alex sighed, ‘And I’m not doing it over the phone, so if I decide to tell him it’ll be whenever I see him again.’
‘You wont regret it Al, I can tell you that now.’
