Work Text:
“The Summer Solstice is just around the corner, Miss Kate.” Emilyko said aloud, opening the curtains, letting the sunlight in.
Kate nodded. “Yes, indeed, Emilyko.”
“That solstice means summer is just around the corner, sooner than we think.” Emilyko replied, and she walked up to stand next to Kate, who picked up the book they both had been reading.
“You must have been reading from my books.” Kate replied, opening and scouring the pages for the passage on the solstice.
“I have, I hope that you don’t mind, do you?’ Emilyko asked hesitantly.
Kate shook her head. “Oh no, not at all, Emilyko. I encourage that you keep reading, definitely.” She tapped her finger on the page, finding what she was looking for. “This is where you read about the solstices, correct?”
Emilyko nodded and she smiled back. “Yes, that’s right, Miss Kate.” She stepped closer, and she wrapped her arms around Kate in a hug, in which Kate readily accepted.
“With that said, we must prepare for the summer, especially the upcoming heat.”
“Of course, and I can go and pick flowers with the others, it’ll be perfect!” Emilyko beamed.
Kate answered with a soft laugh. “Yes, absolutely perfect.”
