Summary
“From beneath a deep snow shall rise the Knight of Evergreen, yet with him he shall bring a small seed, strength unseen."
Prince Jonathan, heir to the throne and future ruler of the Great Kingdom of Hawks Nest, is dying, and he is dying quick. With the weight of inheritance matters resting heavy upon the shoulders of the king, he does what no man thought he would do; he sends out for the Cleric, an elusive figure known for not just his power, but his ominousness.
The king and the Cursecaster have been butting heads for two years, and yet he must send for him in a time of dire need. The unknown illness is spreading through the heir quicker with each passing day.
When Ser Michael Wheeler and his closest companions, Ser Lucas Sinclair and Ser Dustin Henderson, are sent to fetch the Cleric beyond the Evergreen, Mike is greeted with a sight different than those fabled from drunken knight stories and castle whispers.
OR: Ser Michael of House Wheeler is still mourning the Lost Prince. He did not expect to find solace within a mysterious healer, hidden behind deep violet robes and a sinister beaked mask.

"I'm glad I went," Mike murmurs near Will's ear.
"Had fun?" Will asks playfully.
"Oh, yeah," Mike stretches sarcastically.
They stay like that for a little longer than necessary, then reluctantly separate, still looking at each other. Will can't hold the eye contact for long, and turns away, biting down a smirk.
"Goodnight, then," he breathes out.
"Yeah. Goodnight," Mike nods nervously and smiles. That same stupid dorky smile.

Summary
No one ever talks about what happens after.
No one told Will that the monsters would never really leave him. No one told Will how being taken and possessed would sit in his stomach like a coiled-up vine. No one told Will how he'd never feel like himself again.
No one told Will what to do, now that the worst is over and he doesn't feel any better. No one told Will how to handle the after, the in-between of not dying and still feeling dead.
No one told Will how to feel alive, so he figures it out for himself.
(Or; A study of how Will handles— or doesn't handle— the aftermath of what happens to him.)
