Anime & Manga vs Cartoons & Comics & Graphic Novels
I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I have never had too much problem with anime and cartoons being shelved or grouped together in things like stores and on certain sites. However, I feel removing the Anime & Manga category would be a mistake as most anime fans I know wouldn't look in a section labeled "cartoon" or "animation".
What if they were just flipflopped? Make it "Cartoons & Anime" and the other "Comcs & Graphic Novels & Manga". That way the keywords people use to look for anime and manga fandoms would be visible. The biggest problem would be that you would have a lot of doubles as traditionally people combine the anime and manga version of a same canon, even if they are very, very different.
Now, the questions 1. Yes, I use the Media Categories for browsing. I do it to see new, rare anime or video game fandoms showing up. 2. No problems currently, but I anticpate a lot of issues with seperating anime verse and manga verse fics if/when the animation and comic types are rearranged. 3. I would like to see more subtypes and less throwing everything into one category. It makes them too annoying to navigate when you have like a million books or shows in a category and no way to filter further other than first letter of title, which may not even be the title versions you are used to seeing.
Thank you for telling us about your experience! I have registered your feedback and we promise to carefully consider all suggestions. As the process continues, we will post more about our progress and request further input.
