Comment on Update from OTW Board Members-Elect

  1. Going to be blunt and just ask: are the funds from all the donations on lockdown before all these board members depart? Are the AO3/OTW accounts safe?

It would be a shame if some disgruntled soon-to-be ex-board members dipped into the funds as a parting gift themselves since there's so much money lying around, apparently unsecured in a PayPal account. Who has access to this money?

That might seem like an insulting question to ask, but the things I've learned in the past several weeks about how the AO3 is run have me concerned, and frankly, lacking faith. I hope the new board members-elect have everything in hand, and some security measures in place to safeguard AO3/OTW's assets.

    1. Hi, I'm just another member, not anyone official, but at OTW's mirror of these news reports, there is an interesting "discussion" between users and the previous treasurer, here: http://transformativeworks.org/news/board-appointment-last-place-candidate-empty-board-seat#comments

I thought you might find some of what's being said interesting. :)

I share your concerns, especially since while we know MacRae is resigned from the board, she is still the treasurer? That's an awful thought.

As commented above, we won't actually join Board until December 1st. Transfer of all positions, including Treasurer, will start taking place then. That said, there has been no indication, either now or in the past, that our assets are in any sort of danger. Sorting out our finances, however, is one of our main priorities. We realize there is a lack of trust all around, and we want to do everything we can to restore confidence in the Org.

        Best,
        LO and Matty
