The druids all get up from their seats when Merlin appears—their equivalent of a bow. If any of them wanted to attack Camelot, Arthur thinks, there is nothing I can do. ‘But they won’t’, Morgana had said. ‘Can’t you understand?’
Understanding and feeling are two very different things. Arthur remembers the smell of burning flesh. So much like the pyre they burnt sorcerers on, but so different as well. One knight erupting into flames, then another…
“Sire?” Merlin is looking at him. Arthur ignores the ice-water-down-his-shirt sensation and forces himself to stay still.
“No,” Arthur says. “It’s nothing. Go ahead.”OR: Arthur does his best, but nobody said that countering twenty years’ trauma would be easy.

Now he’s somehow become the unofficial emotional support adult of Hogwarts, is being hunted by the house-elves because he keeps fixing castle structural problems himself, dealing with a basilisk situation that Merlin is “pretty sure he dealt with once already, back in the 5th century.” and trying to stop Gilderoy Lockhart from deciding that he is his "professional rival."

As an avid fan of the Merlin (TV) universe, I have to say this is one of my favorite adaptations of the show.
It's a tasteful crossover between Merlin and HP that one would honestly not think possible.
The work adds a whole new perspective (and character study) of Merlin, and I truly believe that if he were a millennium old, this is quite accurate to how he would act and adapt.
A pinch of insanity to his usual happy-go-lucky demeanor, with all the wisdom his beloved character has always had to offer.Truly one of my favorite works covering the Merlin universe. Such a unique spin, and a fic I think about often.
Kudos to the lovely author.

Summary
Arthur grins at him, waves his chubby hand. "Father!" he says, because he knows he should be formal with his father. There is no Pa here, no Dad or Da.
There's something shiny on his father's head. He points to it. "What's that?"
"Prince Arthur!" hisses the woman holding him, but his father only chuckles. The woman relaxes, just slightly.
"It's a crown, my son. One day, you will wear one just like it."
Arthur tilts his head, curiously. "What colour is it?" He thinks it's grey, just a shade off of the silver of the swords. It's the same silver-grey as half of the household's shiny jewelry, a not quite true silver. He doesn't think he likes it.
"It's gold," says his father. "There's a lot of gold here in Camelot, my son."
Arthur nods his head, and labels that silver-ish colour gold in his mind.
(Or: in a world where you can't see the colour of your soulmate's eyes until you meet them, Arthur can't see gold, and it makes his life as a prince much more difficult.)

Summary
It's hard enough being a powerful sorcerer in Camelot, but being in love with the Crown Prince has its downsides. Summary
Generally speaking, Uther did not tolerate his nobles meddling with the servants. It was more because he thought such behaviour beneath his courtiers rather than out of any regard for the safety and happiness of the castle staff. Still, the King did not have eyes everywhere, and his various lords and ladies took the view that what Uther didn't know couldn't hurt them.
That was how he found himself here, pinned into an alcove in one of the hallways by Lord Bancroft. The cold stone of the castle wall dug into his back as the lord's body pressed against his front from shoulder to hip, all hard muscle and harder... other things.
Merlin is propositioned, Arthur intervenes.

Summary
It should be a simple voyage. Six months, two newly-invented sails to test, one inventor along for the ride to help test them. Not that Merlin had much of a choice - it was either prison or this. As long as he can keep his magic hidden, stop pissing off his pretentious first mate, and navigate the politics on deck, it should be a simple voyage.
(Or, the Treasure Planet x Merlin crossover of my 13-year-old dreams. Merlin is a convict, tech prodigy, and secret wizard. Arthur is a perfectionist, sailor aficionado, and secret prince. Ships carry a sort of intrinsic magic from the old days while being outfitted with the technology of the new days. Gwaine is a slut.)

Summary
The other nobles didn't have to tolerate pointed comments about their intelligence or the size of their waistline (which had not changed an inch, no matter what Merlin said.) They did not have to suffer messy chambers and the frustration of a manservant who would not do what he was told unless it suited him.
And perhaps Arthur was petty, but it did give him some small satisfaction to see Merlin scowling at him from the edge of the duelling ring.
'He'll turn you into a frog,' Gwaine said cheerfully, swearing as Arthur dodged the blow of his sword and smacked Gwaine's exposed side with the flat of his own weapon. 'Chuck you in a well and leave you there.'
Arthur discovers there's a difference between knowing Merlin has magic, and truly seeing it for himself.
