Her veins coil around, eerily similar to vines, and it feels as though there is something yearning to burst under the alabaster hue of her skin. That, if they truly were vines, there would be flowers coming off of them, accompanied with a blood lust that she can never quite explain whenever Yingxing looks at her questioningly. Words fall from Dan Feng’s lips, and she can never make out the muffled syllables until she looks away from Baiheng and blinks at the world slowly and it comes to a stop. Abrupt and fleeting like the blooming chrysanthemums all around.
Golden and wonderous whilst Baiheng smiles like there is nothing wrong at all. And Jingliu lead’s them, the quintet, like she has not been knocked off course and kilter, Dan Feng and Yingxing looking to one another conspiratorially and communicating in a way only they know.

Sam Fitzoutis is a 22-year-old senior virology student at Harvard Medical School. They have a stable job at the lab at their school and live in a small house with friends who are always down for a joint or bong. They enjoy reading books and playing chess. Sam tries to live a normal life as promised, but they hold secrets. Secrets that they have been keeping away from life they build, but one day everything changes when a mysterious man with sunglasses walks through the door.
This idea has been rotting my brain for the last year, and now I have time to write it down. I've moved some things around in time and replaced some things for the story. Sam essentially has the worst case of "main character syndrome." This is literally just fun for me, so please don't take it too seriously. I've put references from across all forms of media in here, so I hope y'all catch it. Caught between needing to find food and shelter and trying to stay out of the way of Pokémon that battle each other over food, territory, and petty ego conflicts, she struggles to survive in the world of Pokémon. Of course, this is harder said than done when it turns out that the wonderful creatures called Pokémon have no intentions of leaving her alone. Specifically, an action-first-thoughts-later clefairy named Nebula who serves as a guardian fairy for a Pokemon exclusive refuge against humans, and a timid Yanma named Yammy who each become a lot more involved in her life than she might have liked.
Also, something brews behind the scenes. In the greater forest, there have been rumors of Pokémon much smaller than the typical members of their species. Is this some natural event, or does it have a human cause? And how does it relate to the existence of Borrowers? A mystery is at foot, and all of it involves Samantha and her missing parents somehow.
