Summary
Louisiana, United States, 1993: Will Graham, an investigative journalist, is conducting interviews as he seeks the deep and raw truths of everyday people's lives when he encounters the vampire Bedelia Du Maurier. Assuming this will be his rise to fame, Will eagerly joins the vampire at her home to interview her, though Will has unknowingly gotten himself involved with a significantly more harrowing vampire than just Bedelia with this simple decision. Will comes to yearn for both the dark gift and the vampire who keeps it from him.
Tuscany, Italy, 2023: A letter from Hannibal brings Will back to the vampire nearly thirty years later. Will has pieced together the truth by now and gives Hannibal the chance to share his own side of the story, though he’s made the trip in hopes of getting more than just that; his ache for the dark gift still lingering.
