Summary
Ilya was used to hazing. He had been subjected to it, he had participated in it, and, as a captain, he had stood guard over the rookies and protected them from anything truly harmful. But if he had been asked, Ilya would have approved of this prank. He would have authorized it, given Cliff and Vicky his seal of approval, perhaps even helped orchestrate it.
Any other day, Ilya might have been happy to play along.
But, in perfect dramatic irony, it had not happened any other day. It had happened today. And, cherry on top, of course the rookie had to walk in when Shane was already freaking out about Ilya saying his name.

Shane was speechless, and Ilya was unknowingly saying the sweetest things to him without even knowing. Shane's eyes started to water. He loved Ilya so much. He had watched for years as the man he loved slowly disappeared. turning into a shell of the strong, smart, cunning man Shane once knew.
"We did a commercial," Ilya said, grabbing Shane's attention. He knew what he was talking about.
"You did?" Shane replied to keep him talking.
"Yes, it was hockey something, very early, I was very young," Ilya said, waving his hand trying to bring the rest of the story to him.

Ilya kissed Shane's shoulder and smiled at him, "Mm okay" he let out a sigh "just, hard day, yes?" He could tell Shane wanted to talk about it but he just couldn't, so instead he buried his face into Shane's neck and hoped he could breathe the life of the other boy into his own body and they could just share one vessel of being forever.
