Summary
It was inevitable, really, that such a thing would fall into Harry's focus eventually.
To be an animagus was in his blood, after all.
"It's not happening," Remus tells him, his voice forceful even in his exhaustion.
When the obvious, reassuring agreement he'd expected doesn't come however, his hackles rise.
"Sirius," he says again, low and direct. "It's not happening."

Summary
Sirius visits Remus' house. It's the summer of their sixth year, and they're just friends. It's a perfectly normal thing to do.
“Sirius," he says slowly, sure that he must be misunderstanding him. "That’s Welsh.”
Sirius, unaffected by the answer, makes a sound of agreement.
“Yeah, like a Welsh driving code?”
“No- Sirius-" Remus stammers, entirely lost for words, reeling at this insane discovery. "Welsh language. Did you not- what the fuck did you think you were hearing on the train?”
Comprehension dawns on Sirius then. His fraught journey of begging strangers for directions was now helpfully contextualised.

Summary
Harry's removed from the Dursleys, as per the plan. Everything else after is a different story.
“Is Padfoot your Patronus?”
Beside him, Remus' stomach twists, wholly unprepared to be facing this moment without warning. He makes himself nod, disguising the apprehension overwhelming him. It's no secret.
“He is.”

Summary
Sirius visits Harry the summer after the shrieking shack.
It's feels impossible that this was the same dog as that savage, terrifying grim who'd dragged Ron into a tunnel, the one who’d locked jaws with a werewolf.
This dog was biting at pinecones, bouncing them off down the path so he could chase after them.

Summary
Pettigrew had escaped, but so had Sirius. He still had a chance to rebuild.
There’s morning light filtering in through curtains instead of beating down on his bare skin. It smells like linen and wood beams, not damp and misery. There's a real duvet on top of him.
He’s in Remus’ spare room. He recognises the mouldings on the ceiling.

Summary
“It’ll take some time to get it right,” said Remus, rubbing at his eyes, “and I probably need a N.E.W.T.-level charms book. In the meantime, what do you reckon the password should be?”
James cleared his throat, raising a hand in grave salute as if he were being sworn in as Supreme Mugwump. “How about, I, a veritable Marauder of the highest order, solemnly swear that this most troublesome artifact shall be used in the name of highest mischief, until which time said mischief has been managed.”
Remus gave James a bemused look. “You think the password ought to be, I, a Marauder, solemnly—”
“I, a veritable Maruader of the highest order,” James corrected.
“All right, you think it should be, I, a veritable Marauder of the highest order, solemnly swear that… er…What was the rest of it?”
“What a stupid password,” Sirius interjected before James could offer Remus the rest. “How about just, I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.”
“Fine,” said James begrudgingly, “but we need a password to clear the map off, too. How about, I hereby proclaim that—”
“How about, Mischief managed,” Remus interrupted.
James frowned. “I dunno…where’s the ceremony? Where’s the flair?”
