“I just had a few questions,” he says, ignoring the pause. He had already explained about the movie, but repeats the question he was really curious about. “About my mother, Hoshino Ai. Then I won’t trouble you further.” He does not say your daughter.

I’m so preoccupied by getting out that I barely notice the person on the other side of the door when I open it.
Which is how I ended up walking right into Nino, right when I was fresh off a crying session, with my head just barely clear enough to think.
The first thing I see is the side ponytail pinned into place by a panda hair clip and it takes everything in me to keep myself from flinching at the hairstyle so similar to Ai’s. The “Smiling Queen” of B-Komachi was the last person I wanted to see right now.

Aqua sucks in a sharp breath, with a grief filled quality about it while Ruby whispers incredibly quietly, a gentle sigh of Mama that makes me wish I hadn’t really said–
Wait.
Back up.
“Mama?” The words are out of my mouth before I can think about them. Instantly, the two of them freeze, limbs locking up and faces shutting down, staring at me with the beginning of horror.
