“I was thinking about it the other day,” calls Enjolras from the other room. He sounds disgustingly rational. “I think it would make a lot of sense. And I think we’d be great together, you know, as husbands.”
“Sure,” says Grantaire, his voice cracking slightly. His mouth tastes like metal.
Enjolras pops his head around the corner and smiles at him, that private, conspiratorial smile that’s just for Grantaire. His hair is a mess from changing clothes and his eyes are bright, bright blue. “And I don’t think I’d mind being married to you.”
Grantaire takes a breath, blinks several times, and looks down at his knitting.
“R?”
