Summary
It’s his instincts and his voices who wake him up, as they are screaming wrong wrong wrong.
He is not alone.
There is a creature in his room. Techno blinks at the figure sitting on top of his blankets, right on the foot of his bed. It is still, and does not move.
“Did you break into my house to get away from the cold?” Techno asks.
The creature says nothing. It only pulls one of the blankets at the end of Techno’s bed closer to itself.
“Well if you’re gonna stay at least take another blanket,” Techno grumbles.
Techno doesn't expect for his hibernation to be interrupted by a strange creature who breaks into his house. He decides to let it stay. Throughout the winter, the creature wakes him up in intermissions until spring. Inviting them to stay turns out to be one of the best decisions he made.
Or, how Technoblade accidently befriends and adopts what he believes to be some sort of demon that visits in his sleep, but is actually just a curious shapeshifting child.

Only then does Sam find that courage. She abandons all those various paragraphs of explanations and excuses and emotions she'd drafted, and just shoots him a short, "How'd your second day go, little man?" at 2 in the morning. It is never read. He never posts again. Plain and simple.
Lee is declared dead 7 years and 1 month later exactly, in early April of 2023. Sam goes to the funeral. She doesn't talk to anyone but him, and all she does is apologize.
She shouldn't have left him. She's no better than their father, regardless of her reasons. Maybe she wouldn't have been able to prevent this, but he'd at least have had her. He'd at least have had his big sister to tell him she's proud of him.
And Sam moves the hell on. She gets a job as a fashion designer, and she's damn fucking good at it. She goes through boyfriends like a shitty fashion influencer goes through SHEIN hauls, with a few girlfriends mixed in for flavor, before settling down with a dorky guy she adores and a gross old cat she also adores. They're engaged, and (perhaps overly optimistically) planning a wedding in Brazil. Which is, for sure, an unsubtle dig at her mother. She and Lee are both on the invite list, though neither invite will be sent.
And then on some random unremarkable day at the end of May, in 2025, while she's taking a short break from her current project, her phone pings with a notification from Twitter. Twitter, of all things—she's hardly touched it in the past year and a bit, as Musk kills it slowly and painfully, and she only has push notifications on for DMs and @s. So, obviously, she checks it immediately. Her interest is piqued.
And she nearly drops her phone after the second it takes to process passes. And she reads the notification again. And she taps on it and puts her pin in probably faster than she ever has before, and reads it again, and then swears out loud.
The message says, plain and simple,
