He’s the kind of person who would never be involved in anything messy, painful, or irreversible. The kind of person whose life moves in a straight, calm line—no cracks, no stains, no moments he wishes he could take back. If anything ever went wrong, it would never be his fault. It simply wouldn’t happen to him at all.

It's been four years since the accident, and his friends lived their hollow lives as best they could, tethered down by a lie they didn't know existed. His friends deserve the truth, and the chance to move on. Sunny… wasn’t necessary for that to happen.
(The wind whipped past his face, his one good eye staring blankly at the floor rising to meet him.)
Sunny would go, and take the escapism, the bed sores, and HEADSPACE with him.
He didn't expect to wake up, four years earlier. He didn't expect the chance to rectify his mistake, to fall alongside Mari, shielding her from the worst of the fall. In this new timeline, he spends those four years in a dreamless coma.
The world Sunny wakes up to is different. Mari and Sunny have closed themselves off, each in their own ways. Their worlds have been cruel to them, and they've grown accustomed to a world without the other.
Sunny breathed in, the feel of headspace unfamiliar to him, for once. "Sunny, over here!" Mari- No, Hikki- called to him, her monochrome face adorned with a smile.

How could he ignore this offer? Sunny doesn't hesitate and accepts the invitation to travel to Headspace in search of adventure.
There's just one problem: Headspace isn't a paradise, but a twisted nightmare from which no one emerges alive.

As the final chord rang out across the hall, strong and harmonious, the clapping began – also strong, but not quite as harmonious. Sunny took the violin away from his neck, holding it and the bow in the same hand, and faced forwards. Mari stepped up next to him, radiant as always in her black dress, beaming at the crowd. As they always did, she offered out a hand and he took it before they bowed together, bringing the applause to a deafening volume.
The lights started to dim, and the audience became visible. Sunny scanned the crowd, looking for four people. He knew they wouldn’t be there, even if he hoped for it a little. Or a lot. It was just force of habit by this point. It had been a long time since he had been with those four.
